We are committed to the conservation of species and sites within biological corridors, utilizing a combination of protected areas and intensive-use areas. To this end, Guyra Paraguay performs and promotes monitoring studies about the evolution, the levels of degradation, and the fragmentation of the principal eco regions of Paraguay, including urban and cross-border ecosystems.
Recently, Guyra Paraguay entered the challenging world of agriculture and livestock, proposing innovative solutions to better protect our rich biodiversity, working with 90 rural producers. There are five pilot projects distributed throughout the eastern region. They demonstrate, in a practical manner, that it is possible to have excellent agricultural production, while, at the same time, incorporating biological corridors, forest reserves, plantations of native trees, protection of water resources, biodiversity monitoring, and the responsible use of agrochemicals, among other strategies, into their management strategies.
Guyra Paraguay has an Environmental Monitoring Multi-Use Center, whose objectives are the processing of geospatial and statistical information.
Guyra Paraguay was the first organization in South America to use the Global Data Toolset, a system based on the internet, initiating cooperation with the United States Geological Services. This tool offers the possibility of accessing geo referenced information about protected areas, forested areas, distribution of amphibians, and, soon, geographical data regarding Important Bird Areas (IBA) through an agreement with BirdLife International.
